New & Replacement Consumer Units in Wiltshire
A consumer unit is the modern version of what used to be known as a Fuseboard – the electrical installation which receives the power coming into a building from the National Grid and distributes it around the property.
Here at Invisiwire we are often hired to replace old-fashioned fuseboards in properties under renovation with consumer units, and we also install consumer units into new builds.
Consumer units have better built in safety functions than a fuseboard, with miniature circuit breakers (MCB) and residual current devices (RCD) which trip off if there are any issues with the electrics in the property.
Installing or replacing a consumer unit is a complex job which our skilled and qualified team of electricians are certified and competent to perform.
Fuseboard Upgrades in Bath & West Wiltshire
Besides upgrading an old fuseboard, another reason for installing a new consumer unit is to accommodate extra power demands that may be placed on it by new electrical installations in your property, such as a new annex or extension.
In some cases we replace consumer units if they have been damaged, or if an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) has recommended it.
Whatever the reason for upgrading your fuseboard or consumer unit, the power will have to be switched off while we perform the work, attaching each circuit to its relevant protective device.
After installation of a new or replacement consumer unit we will thoroughly test the new device and issue an Electrical Installation Certificate to certify that the work has been carried out efficiently and safely.
